PREDICTFTD at the CEPR Conference on the Economics of Longevity and Ageing

9 July 2026

How can we better understand the economic impact of dementia?

Mireia Jofre-Bonet, Chief Research Officer at the Office of Health Economics (OHE) and a partner in the PREDICTFTD project, participated in a panel discussion on the economic impacts of dementia at the CEPR Conference on “The Economics of Longevity and Ageing”, held at the University of Cambridge from 9–11 July 2026.

The discussion explored the economic costs of dementia and how different forms of dementia create distinct challenges for individuals, families and health systems.

Mireia shared insights from OHE’s research on the value of earlier diagnosis and innovation in dementia care, including its work within PREDICTFTD. As part of the project, OHE is assessing the economic value of biomarker and AI-based approaches to the earlier diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
The discussion highlighted the importance of understanding the wider societal and economic impacts of dementia to inform better policy decisions and improve support for people living with dementia and their families.
